Rev. Gary Davis "Heroes of the Blues Very Best of" Album Review

The very best of the Rev
I learned about Reverend Gary Davis's music by listening to a Hot Tuna concert DVD. Jorma and Jack mentioned him in their interviews. I quickly found this cd at Amazon.com and enjoyed hearing the real thing from the reverend in a very good recording.

Steve Pierson "Blues Head" Album Review

Blues Head Gives Good Blues
This is one of the finest discs released in 2000. Steve Pierson has assembled an all-star band that is really impressive: Co-Producer Laurence Juber on guitars, Michael Murphy on keys, Gerald Johnson on bass and Tony Braunagel on drums. Steve is an excellent slide guitarist and singer as well as a very talented songwriter who penned all but one of the ten songs on this disc. I would strongly recommend this debut release to all fan of blues rock and if Blues Head comes to your town, use yours and do not miss them! ;-)

Smokin Joe Kubek and Bnois King "Show Me the Money" Album Review

Blues Review
If you like Texas Blues with a sort of "gritty" sound, you'll like this CD. This CD didn't grab my like button right off the bat but after listening to it a couple times through and began to really enjoy the majority of the tracks.

Johnny Winter "I'm A Bluesman" Album Review

Go Johnny go
Thank God he is still making music. Stop whining you nit-pickers. Great stuff, Johnny has aged well and his music still will put to shame most wanna-be blues out there today. My favorites: I Smell Smoke and Shakedown. Kick butt bass on both tracks too, crank it up. Go Johnny go!
